PTSA Meeting - Teen Anxiety: Promoting Everyday Resilience
February 7, 2019
On Tuesday, February 19th at 7:15pm, Sherwood HS PTSA is privileged to have Dr. Rebecca Resnik, Licensed Psychologist, present:
Teen Anxiety: Promoting Everyday Resilience.
Dr. Resnik has presented at other schools in the Sherwood cluster to phenomenal reviews. Please join us on Feb 19th in the Media Center to hear her presentation:
Adolescence can be a time of anxiety as teens transition into managing increasing workloads, responsibilities, and independence. It can be challenging for parents to figure out when their teen's stress level has crossed over from manageable (or even healthy) stress to a problem to worry about. This presentation addresses how anxiety manifests during the teen years as student's brains mature into adulthood, and how 'internalizers' and externalizers' cope with anxiety. Dr. Resnik will discuss 'red flags' that differentiate between healthy stress and concerns in adolescents. She will also provide practical, evidence-based advice for parents to promote resilience and motivation for students.
