On Tuesday, April 25th at 7:15pm in the Media Center, Sherwood HS PTSA presents LT Nuri Tawwab, PharmD, MPH, PhC, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Food and Drug Administration:
Currently, Corps officers are actively involved in addressing opioid crisis in our communities. Over the past 15 years, individuals, families, and communities across our Nation have been tragically affected by the opioid epidemic, with the number of overdose deaths from prescription and illicit opioids doubling from 21,089 in 2010 to 42,249 in 2016. We would like to offer our expertise to the parents, students and teachers by giving a presentation about preventing opioid abuse and addiction among high school students. The presentation may take 30-45 minutes to achieve the following learning objectives: (1) Describe the three stages of addiction (2) Identify opioids and how people become dependent; and (3) Discuss ways to prevent abuse
